William Ivers

William Henry Ivers, age 87 of rural Ogallala, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.

He was born August 30, 1919 in Ogallala the son of August and Christine (Huff) Ivers. Bill grew up and attended schools in Ogallala graduating from the Ogallala High School with the class of 1937. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1942 until October of 1945 during World War II.

Bill married Kathryn Cox on January 26, 1947. The couple spent their entire married life together on their farm northwest of Ogallala. Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge # 1760 and the V.F.W

Survivors include:

Three children, Eileen Ivers of Grand Island, NE

Wayne and Karen Ivers of Longmont, CO

Ron and Ann Ivers of Ogallala

Three granddaughters, Maria Ivers of The Woodlands, TX

Jull Ivers of The Woodlands, TX

Allison Ivers of Ogallala

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Christine Ivers; sister, Elsie Welsh; brother, Clarence Ivers; daughter, Sharon Christine Ivers and his wife, Kathryn Florence (Cox) Ivers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7th at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with Pastor Kelo Kaleuati officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors provided by the Keith Co. Veterans’ Organizations.

A memorial has been established in his memory in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home.
