Walt England
Walter Harvey England, age 75 of Ogallala, passed away Friday,
February 11, 2011 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1935 the son of Harvey and Erma (Jenkins)
England in Denver, Colorado. He was raised and attended schools in
Westminster, Colorado. After his graduation from high school he
attended Colorado State University for a year and then a desire to
go into construction work started him on his life long career.
As a young man he held positions of General Superintendent for
several construction firms in Colorado including Northwestern
Engineering of Colorado Springs, Tower Construction and CKC
Construction of Denver and McAtee Renquist Paving of Sterling. It
was while he was employed at McAtee Renquist that he became
acquainted with Ogallala and Lake McConaughy while working on paving
projects. In 1974 he purchased Ogallala Ready Mix and moved to
Ogallala where he was in business until 2001. During those years he
was active in community improvement and donated him time, funds and
talents to many causes. Upon retirement in 2004 he spent his time in
his woodworking shop, fishing, hunting and enjoying attending
schools events in which his grandchildren participated.
He was a lifetime member of the Ogallala
Elks Club and a seven year member of the Ogallala Moose Lodge.

Brother in law, James McCormick of Denver, CO
Grandchildren, Stephanie and Cari England, Shelby Clouatre and Tomas
England, Meredith Halweg, Hunter and Tyson Lanka and Tommie Kucera
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Marilyn.
Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February
15th at the Ogallala New Hope Church. Cremation was chosen and there
will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the
Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department of the Perkins County Animal
Shelter in his memory in lieu of flowers.
