Rosie Johnson
Rose Marie (Kalkowski) Johnson, age 74 of Papillion, a former
longtime Ogallala resident, passed away Saturday morning, March 6,
2010 in Papillion.
Rosie was born April 28, 1935 at Ogallala the daughter of Emil and
Isabelle (Jarosz) Kalkowski. She attended schools in Ogallala
graduating from the Ogallala High School in 1952. She began her
employment with TRW (formerly Goodall Electric) in 1962 at a
secretary for Manufacturing Services. In 1990 she transferred to
Personnel and retired from TRW in April of 1999.
Rosie married Tom Johnson on March 17, 1967. She had been a member
of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the St. Luke’s Altar Society in
Ogallala as well as being a “Red Hat” lady. She played the kazoo in
the LaVista Senior Center’s band but most of her notoriety came from
singing and performing. Rosie truly loved life and every moment she
could spend with her children and especially her grandchildren and
great grandchildren. She fought to give her family seven bonus
years following her accident and was able to see graduations,
weddings and meet four more grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.

(Faye) Johnson of Grant, NE
16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
Brother: Ronald (Maxine) Kalkowski of Ogallala
Sister, Marlene (Robert) Grier of Alliance, NE
And numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Johnson; and
sister, Geraldine Kalkowski.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th at the
Gubser Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 11th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church
with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the
Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.
until the time of the Rosary on Wednesday at the Gubser Funeral
Home.
