Robert William Kersenbrock passed away April 4, 2011 in Omaha, NE. He fought a valiant fight against all odds after receiving a liver transplant two years ago. He was just 59 years old on March 28th.
Robert was born and raised in Ogallala, NE and was the son of Bette and Frank Kersenbrock. He graduated high school from Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri in 1970 and later attended Doane College and Kearney State. He spent his adult life in Lincoln and for the last 15 years in Omaha where he had his own contracting business.
Robert’s main joy in life was his son, Tyler Kersenbrock, along with his wife Melissa and three grand children: Alexys, Ayden and Addisyn of Scottsbluff, NE.
He is also survived by his sister, Kaye McKleroy, husband Alex, niece Alison and nephew Andrew and his wife Nina in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is also fondly remembered by his Aunt June Redmond of North Platte, Cousin Bob Redmond and wife Barbara of Omaha, Cousin Cathy Wyatt and husband Granville and Cousin Cindy Redmond of Aurora, CO. He will also be missed by his beloved cat and companion, Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Herman and Aunt Peg Kersenbrock and by his Uncle Bob Redmond.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28th at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Chris Plantz officiating. NOVA Therapeutic Community in Omaha enabled Robert to become clean and sober 15 years ago and saved his life. Robert became a board member at NOVA and also worked tirelessly to mentor and sponsor fellow addicts at Narcotics Anonymous.
