Raymond Bannon

Raymond C. Bannon, age 83 of Paxton, passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born April 23, 1926 at Keystone, Nebraska the son of Charles T. and Esther A. (Johansen) Bannon.
After graduating from high school Raymond attended Kearney State Teacher’s College before entering the U.S. Army. Raymond married Mary M. VandeVoorde in 1953 in Ogallala. He lived most of his life in Mt. Morris, Michigan and Columbus, Nebraska before moving to Paxton. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Hankins-Miller American Legion Post # 303 in Paxton.

Survivors include:
Five children, Eugene C. Bannon of Pensacola, FL
Steven M. Bannon of Grand Blanc, MI
James C. Bannon of Des Moines, IA
Erin M. Smith of Spring Hill, FL
Bradley A. Bannon of Rawlings, WY
Sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
Sisters , Ruth M. Colson of Ogallala
Dorothy A. Mueller of Colorado Springs, CO
Sheila K. Moul of Spanaway, WA
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eileen M. Moul

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell, Nebraska with military honors rendered by the Hankins-Miller American Legion Post # 303.
 

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gubser Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
