Peggy Hood

Peggy Lou (Pickard) Hood, age 74 of Big Springs, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Sterling Regional Medical Center in Sterling, Colorado.

She was born June 24, 1935 at Lewellen, Nebraska the daughter of Howard and Ruby (Naviaux) Pickard. Peggy attended school in Lewellen, Oshkosh and Big Springs.

 

She married Carl Jurgensen in 1955.

 

She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs and St. John's Lutheran Church in Big Springs and had taught Sunday school and vacation bible school.

 

Peggy married Harold Hood on November 21, 1988 in Torrington, Wyoming. Peggy took care of many elderly shut-ins providing food, running errands and lots of love and caring. She mowed many lawns, baked many cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls for members of the community as well as working as a waitress, driving trucks and owned and operated Peg's Place Cafe. She accomplished many things in her life but preferred not to brag or boast about any of them. She loved people and she loved life. Her family and many, many friends will miss her.

John Jurgensen of Lodgepole, NE

Joey Jurgensen of Ogden, UT

Two daughters, Debra and Rick Hume of Lodgepole, NE

Christle and John Wedge of Kearney, NE

Brother, Jim and Dean Pickard of Greeley, NE

Sister, Carol Moser of Big Springs, NE

Step father, Don Newland of Lisco, NE

13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 step children, 8 step grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; and aunt and uncle, Leah and Alford Smith

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs with Pastor Trenton D. Christensen officiating. Committal of the cremains will be in the Big Springs Cemetery following the services.
