Paul Francis Leonard, age 79 of Lake McConaughy, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at his home.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 7th at St. Luke's Catholic Church with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Paul was born November 27, 1930 at North Platte, the son of William and Leora (Kaufmen) Leonard, who ranched near Keystone. He attended high school at St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney, graduating in 1948. Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, serving in Alaska and California in military intelligence. In 1964 Paul earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He was employed with the Census Bureau as an economic analyst and following his retirement from government service in 1985 he returned to Ogallala.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dick and Don Leonard. Paul was unmarried. His survivors include his sister in law, Betty Joe Leonard of Elsie; and cousins Sue (Jerry)Thornburg of Chappell and Jim Leonard of Cheyenne, WY; and several nieces and nephews.
