Milford Krajewski

 

Milford R. Krajewski, age 86 of Ogallala, passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, May 4, 2011. He was born on October 12, 1924 south of Ogallala, the son of Anton and Helen (Klein) Krajewski.

 

Milford attended schools in Ogallala, graduating from the Ogallala High School in 1942. He married Mae Cuba on September 10, 1946 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala. The couple raised six daughters on the family farm where they resided until 1971. They moved into Ogallala at that time but Milford continued farming until his retirement after more than fifty years as a farmer. Milford and Mae were married for fifty- three years before her death in 2000.

Milford was very active in the Ogallala Optimist Club with thirty- nine years of perfect attendance at weekly meetings and having served as Governor of the Nebraska Optimists. He was a long time member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council # 4979, the Ogallala Country Club, the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Ogallala. He was an avid reader, especially in matters of agriculture and politics. He also enjoyed playing cards and pool with friends and family.

Five daughters, Alice and Ron Van Cleave of Larned, KS

Helen and David Peetz of Sidney, NE

Norma and Harold Barnard of Peru, NE

Joan and Bill Bonkiewicz of Lincoln, NE

Sr. Loretta Krajewski, OSU of Ogallala

Son in law, Ryan Holscher of Ogallala

 

Seventeen grandchildren, twenty- two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Sisters in law, Sancy Krajewski, Maxine (Ron) Kalkowski and Eileen Combs

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae Krajewski; a daughter, Louise Holscher; brothers, Gerald and Norbert Krajewski; a sister and brother in law, Harold and Eileen Strong; sister in law, Helen Cuba and an infant sister.

 

Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home and at the church prior to Rosary.

 

A memorial has been established to St. Luke’s Catholic Church or the St. Luke’s School Endowment Trust in his memory. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com.
