Mildred McCroden
Mildred Elizabeth McCroden, age 82, a longtime Ogallala resident,
passed away Saturday morning, April 4, 2009 at the Ponderosa Villa
Nursing Home in Crawford, Nebraska.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7th at the
Gubser Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00
a.m. on Wednesday, April 8th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with
Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant.
Burial will be in the
Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be held
at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Rosary on
Tuesday. A memorial has been established in her memory to St. Luke’s
Catholic Church or the Nebraska Children’s Home Society in her
memory.
Mildred was born April 8, 1926 in Rural Keith County, one of four
daughters born to Charles and Helen (Pearson) Welsh. Mildred
elementary school and graduated from the Brule High School in 1943.
On November 6, 1946 she married Charles F. McCroden in Ogallala. To
this union two sons were born, Don and Dale. Mildred was first
employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and later became a
stay at home mother for her two sons. As they grew older she
reentered the work force and was employed by the Adams Bank and
Trust and First Federal Savings and Loan of North Platte until her
retirement.
Mildred was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Altar
Society, Ogallala RSVP, and card, sewing and quilting clubs. She and
Charles enjoyed pulling their fifth wheel camper as members of the
Good Sam Club each fall to the Southern and Eastern parts of the
United States ending up at the southern tip of Texas only to return
back home for the summer months. Mildred enjoyed many craft projects
as she always kept herself busy. She also enjoyed growing her roses
and other flowers and a garden each year only to can and share the
bounty with family and friends.

Sisters, Margaret Westerbuhr of Brule
Erma Hulinsky of Brule
Brother in law, Dale Wiest of Julesburg, CO
Sister in law, Eleanor McCroden of Ogallala
And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Helen Welsh
and a sister,
Thelma Wiest and a nephew, Chuck Wiest.
