Mary Ann Flaming

Mary Ann Flaming, age 85, a longtime Keith County resident, passed away Friday morning, October 19, 2007 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

 

She was born November 2, 1921 at Hillsboro, Kansas the daughter of Herman and Sara ( (Ewert) Plenert. Following her graduation from high school in Hillsboro she was employed as a telephone operator and attended Tabor College where she met her future husband, Ed Flaming. The couple was married on March 26, 1943 in Hillsboro. To this union six children were born. The couple settled on a farm southwest of Paxton.

 

Mary Ann was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church and later the Berean Church. She enjoyed baking and was known for her bread making and good cooking. She loved flowers and gardening.

 

Survivors include:

Two sons, Gaylord (Lana) Flaming of Elkhorn, NE

Randy Flaming of Paxton

Three daughters, Beverly (Gib) Larsen of North Platte

Sherolyn (Larry) Watt of Upton, WY

Carol (Steve) Nelson of Ogallala

 

11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren

Brother in law, David "Judd" Flaming of Everett, WA

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Norman Plenert; her husband, Ed; a son, Dale; a grandson, Scott Larsen; and a great-grandson,

Brennan Taylor.

 

Committal services for Mary Ann will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22nd at the Paxton Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Ogallala New Hope Church with Pastor Phil Ewert and Pastor Eric Wait officiating.

 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to gubserfuneralhome.com.

 

Memorials may be made to the New Hope Church to be used for flower beds or the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
