Madeline Potter

 

Madeline A. Potter, age 97, a former Ogallala resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Grace Healthcare in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

 

Madeline was born May 1, 1912 in Westville, Oklahoma the daughter of Nelson and Arie (Eller) Crowder. She attended schools in Westville. Madeline married Jack Potter on June 30, 1930 in Oklahoma City where the couple resided for twelve years before moving to Amarillo. The couple then resided in Denver for twenty years where Jack operated his own floor covering business until retiring and moving to Ogallala in 1987.

 

Madeline had been a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ogallala and the Glenwood Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the order for her church and family. Madeline enjoyed life and especially baking pies and sewing.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jean McGinley of Glenwood Springs, CO; grandson, David McGinley and wife Margie of Greeley, CO; great grandson, Josh McGinley and wife Amber of Denver, CO; great granddaughter, Heather Dawn Rhje; great-great granddaughter, Danielle Rhje; one brother, Bill Crowder and wife Violet of Greeley, CO; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Sharon Morris of Ogallala.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Potter, her parents, five brothers and seven sisters, granddaughter, Rayleen and son in law, Doyle McGinley.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jay Harmon officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17th at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
