Lucy Curtis, age 95 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday evening, September 17, 2008 at the Regent Park Care Center in Holyoke, Colorado.

Lucy was born December 10, 1912 in Rockville, Nebraska the daughter of Michael and Agnes (Kowalski) Slobzewski. She married Ben Curtis on September 2, 1930 in Rockville. They farmed near Ashton, Nebraska until moving to Ogallala in 1939. Ben was employed by the Nebraska Highway Department and Lucy worked as a waitress, butcher, housecleaner and a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Agnes Slobzewski, her husband, Ben Curtis, two sons, Clarence Curtis and Jerry Curtis, a daughter and son in law, Leonard and Deloris Peterson, a grandson, Mike Peterson, a granddaughter, Carol Paloucek, six sisters and seven brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Rosary on Sunday.
