Lucy Curtis Lucy Curtis, age 95 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday evening, September 17, 2008 at the Regent Park Care Center in Holyoke, Colorado. Lucy was born December 10, 1912 in Rockville, Nebraska the daughter of Michael and Agnes (Kowalski) Slobzewski. She married Ben Curtis on September 2, 1930 in Rockville. They farmed near Ashton, Nebraska until moving to Ogallala in 1939. Ben was employed by the Nebraska Highway Department and Lucy worked as a waitress, butcher, housecleaner and a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Survivors include: Daughter, Norma and husband Frank Paloucek of Holyoke, CO Daughter in law, Judy Curtis of Ogallala Grandchildren, Bob Peterson of North Platte Steve Peterson of Halsey, NE Marge and husband Rod Melroy of Holdrege, NE Patty and husband Rod Hooker of Grand Island, NE Jeff and wife Heather Curtis of Arlington, TX Jason and wife Amy Curtis of Ogallala Jarrod Curtis of Ogallala Cheryl and husband Phil Breidenbach of Idaho Falls, ID Jim and wife Malinda Paloucek of North Platte Joanie and husband Lance Fuller of Kearney John and wife Juli Paloucek of Ogallala And many great and great-great grandchildren Sister, Teckla Michalski of Grand Island Sister in law, Verna Kwiatkowski of Ogallala Brother in law, Harry and wife Mae Curtis of Ravenna, NE And many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Agnes Slobzewski, her husband, Ben Curtis, two sons, Clarence Curtis and Jerry Curtis, a daughter and son in law, Leonard and Deloris Peterson, a grandson, Mike Peterson, a granddaughter, Carol Paloucek, six sisters and seven brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Rosary on Sunday.
