Lois Rose
Lifetime Brule resident, Lois Rose, age 76, passed away on Monday, June
13, 2011 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16th at
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brule with Pastor Jon Dickmander
officiating. Burial will be in the Brule Cemetery.
Lois was born April 3, 1935, the daughter of Adolf William and Emma
Margaretha (Rapp) Schmidt in Brule, Nebraska and confirmed her baptism
on March 21, 1948. She attended Brule Public Schools and graduated in
1952. Lois worked for Adam’s Bank for over thirty-five years before
retiring.
On February 10, 1963, Lois was united in marriage with Ray Rose. She was
an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women
Missionary League, and the Happy Hour Garden Club. She also served as
the Vice President of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and on the
Board of the Keith County Senior Citizens Center.
Her interests included traveling in this country and abroad, organizing
Club 50 trips and activities, and playing cards with good friends. Lois’
favorite pastime was gardening. She had many beautiful flowerbeds and a
large garden on her farm east of Brule, where she enjoyed hosting family
gatherings.
Survivors include her daughters Debra Mizell of Lakewood, CO and Susan
Mizell of Sidney, NE, sons Michael Rose of Edwards, Co, Kevin Rose of
Sweetwater, TX and Chris Rose of Casper, WY. She was preceded in death
by her mother Emma Schmidt, her father Adolf Schmidt, her sister Helen
Orth, her step-sister Audrey Caraway and her husband Ray Rose.
