Leslie Leroy Fleming, age 80 of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Leslie was born July 17, 1928 at Lewellen, Nebraska the son of Arthur Leroy and Nellie Elizabeth (Bennett) Fleming. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 – 1954. He held the rank of Sergeant and was a helicopter mechanic.

Following his discharge he met the love of his life, Lavone Lee. They were married on November 25, 1955 in Brule and had celebrated fifty four wonderful years together. They first lived in Grant where Les was a volunteer fireman and later moved to Ogallala where they had resided since that time.

Les was a mechanic and that was his passion. Bring him your broken down car and he would have it fixed and up and running in no time. He loved spending weekends at the lake with his family and friends. Les enjoyed all outdoor activities including camping, fishing, barbecues and campfires. He was especially thrilled when he became a great grandfather and the great grandchildren were blessed to meet him.

Brother, Ralph (Louise) Fleming of Pine Hurst, ID

Sister, Edna Mae Ohnemus of Cour’d Lane, ID

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Fleming and a sister, Mary Barkley.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10^th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eric Wait of the New Hope Church officiating. Inurnment services will military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13^th at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery.

Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation.
