LeRoy James Follis, age 65 of Paxton, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

LeRoy was born August 19, 1942 in Norton, Kansas the son of James William and Mary Jane (Ward) Follis. LeRoy attended the Paxton Consolidated schools graduating from the Paxton High School in 1961. He served for four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Acadamus. He married Jean Scollin Witt in Broken Bow, Nebraska on August 26, 1969.

Following his discharge from the Navy LeRoy had been employed in farming before hiring on with NPPD. He was a machinist for NPPD for sixteen years. He was a heavy equipment operator for ten years and had most recently been employed at Ogallala Ready Mix for the past five years.

LeRoy was a thirty eight year member of the Paxton American Legion. He was a charter member of the Nebraska Archaeological Society and a nine year member of the Loveland Archaeology Society.

Grandchildren, Kaelyn Witt and Cody Brown of Ogallala

Lance and Jay Witt of North Platte

Great grandson, Jace Witt of Ogallala

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A private family service is scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be sent to gubserfuneralhome.com.
