Larry Wamsley

Larry E. Wamsley, age 81 of Ogallala, passed away Monday evening,

May 11, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

 

He was born March 22, 1928 in Paxton, Nebraska the son of Raymond Leroy and Lola Marian (Crouse) Wamsley. The family lived in the Sandhills until Larry was eight years old when they moved to Paxton where he attended school.

 

At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the South Pacific aboard the ship The Tom Bigbee and took part of the Atomic Bomb Test in Bikini. Larry was discharged on December 2, 1947 and returned to Paxton to work on the Feltz ranch.

 

Larry married Clara Perlinger on October 5, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Paxton. Following his employment with the Feltz family he was employed by a laundry service until his retirement. During his retirement years he enjoyed playing games on the computer and watching television.

 

Larry is survived by his wife, Clara of Ogallala; daughter Terry and husband Med Buck of Montana; sons Ed and wife Karen Wamsley of Lincoln and Don Wamsley of California; grandchildren Michelle and Doug Bullock of Idaho, Jess and Deanna Kuenning of Idaho, Molly Wamsley of California and Matt and Jenny Ormiston of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Jacob Kuenning of Idaho, Alena Wamsley of California and Anthony Wamsley of California; sister Velma and husband Thomas, Jr. Perkins of North Platte.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Brownie Wamsley and a daughter in law, Brenda Wamsley.

 

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
