Lana Brockhaus
Lana Jean Brockhaus, age 57 of Lemoyne, passed away on Wednesday,
December 31, 2008 at her home following a long battle with cancer.
Lana was born January 19, 1951 in Humphrey, Nebraska the daughter of
Maurice and Margaret (Senske) Brockhaus. She grew up and attended
schools in Humphrey. Lana was employed at various jobs in Humphrey
before joining the U.S. Army. Following her discharge she returned
to Humphrey.
Through friends she met Jack and Sue Hasselback and moved to
Missouri to work in their company. When the Hasselbacks purchased
the North Shore Lodge, Lana moved to the lake to work for them. She
remained in their employ until the family sold the business and
continued working for the new owners for another two years. She was
employed by the Keith County Sheriff’s Office for one year before
her illness prevented her from working any longer. Through her
friendship with Jim and Dee Hansen she helped out at the Martin Bay
Store and Kingsley Lodge as her health permitted.
Survivors include:
One brother, Joe Brockhaus of Columbus, NE
Her nephew, Rob Brockhaus of Columbus, NE
Her niece, Katie Bornies of Columbus, NE
And her companion of twenty years, Cheryl Balderson of Lemonye, NE
And numerous friends
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, three
uncles and four aunts.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January
3rd at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Duane Dunwoody
