Junior Bailey

Amos Junior Bailey, age 86 of Paxton, passed away Monday morning, June 2, 2008 at the Indian Hills Manor Nursing Home.

 

Junior was born September 25, 1921 in Paxton the son of Amos O. and Mabel (Reichman) Bailey. He attended a country school and the Paxton High School. During his junior year in high school the family moved to Venango where Junior helped his father on the family farm before joining the U.S. Air Force.

Junior served in India and the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to the family farm near Venango. He married Velma Fell on February 14, 1948 in Denver, Colorado. The couple resided most of their life in Paxton except for the five years they lived in Ogallala.

 

Junior worked with his father at the John Deere store in Paxton for several years and later was employed at the John Deere store in Ogallala until his retirement at age sixty five. Junior enjoyed watching sports, playing baseball, bowling and golfing. Junior was a member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge and the Paxton American Legion.

One daughter, Norma and Randy Coleman of Lincoln

One son, Myron and Rhonda Bailey of Lincoln

Seven granddaughters, Lindsey, Kirstin, Caitlin, McKenzie, Andrea,

Allison & Arica

Two great granddaughters and one great grandson

One brother, Neil Bailey and family of Wymore, NE

One sister, Margaret Wid and Family of Grant

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter

 

Memorial services will be held a 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9th at the Gubser Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Aernie officiating. Inurnment will be in the Paxton Cemetery with Military Honors by the Paxton American Legion. Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A memorial has been established in his memory.
