John D. McSweeney John D. McSweeney, age 88 of Ogallala, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Ogallala Community Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1921 at Sutherland, Nebraska the son of James and Molly (Langin) McSweeney. John served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during World War II and was engaged in sales worldwide for most of his life until his retirement. He had moved to Ogallala to make his home ten years ago.
John was an avid bowler and was very interested in politics and business and like to debate issues with friends. He was a sports fan, especially of major league baseball. He was a member of the V.F.W. and St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Survivors include: One sister, Margaret McNamara of Englewood, CA Several nieces and nephews, Michael K. (Nance) Berry of Northglenn, CO Jane (Kevin) Loughrey of Columbine Valley, CO Mickey McNamara of Denver, CO Robert G. Berry of Colorado Springs, CO Susan M. (Jeff) Zacharakis of Manhattan, KS Kathleen Price of California Patricia Moore of Sacramento, CA Rosemary (Terry) Seeno of Sacramento, CA Diane (Scott) Stevenson of Pueblo, CO Peg Wright of Citrus Heights, CA John Seleski of Carmichael, CA James Seleski of Carmichael, CA Jeannie (Robert) Holbrooke of Smithfield, UT Mary Lou Tischler of Portland, OR Karen Tischler (Kent) Mann of Centerville, UT Thomas Lacey of Tonn City, IA Anne Lacey of Candia, NH Charles Lacey of Mundelein, IL Jerome Lacey of Chicago, IL He was preceded in death by one brother, James McSweeney; and five sisters, Anna M. Berry, Ruth Tischler, Catherine Snedeker, Eileen McSweeney and Mary Lacey.
Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20t,h at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sutherland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th at the Gubser Funeral Home. |
