John Gake

John W. Gake, age 78 of Ogallala, passed away on Saturday, July 25^th at the Ogallala Community Hospital following a brief illness.

John was born October 7, 1930 at Ogallala the son of Walter and Marchen (Dinkleman) Gade. John attended schools in Ogallala and graduated from the Ogallala High School in 1949 and had recently attended his 60^th High School Reunion.

John had been a farmer for his entire lifetime at the family farm south of Ogallala. He had also worked part time for the USDA Soil Conservation Service measuring crop acres and had worked as the projectionist for the movie theater and drive in theater in Ogallala for over twenty years. He had been a member of the Church of Christ, First Congregational. John had resided at Indian Hills Manor for the past twelve years.

Sisters, Corrine and husband Keith Hiner of Ogallala

And their children, Kenneth of Ogallala, Sue Lee of Kearney,

Cindy and husband Marty Martins of Crawford

Lonita Staples of Bertrand, NE

And her children, Rick, Tammy and Debbie

And many grand nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30^th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Laurie Heidenreich of the Church of Christ, First Congregational officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ, First Congregational or the American Heart Association in John’s memory.
