Ida Root

Ida was born December 21, 1903 near Flint, Michigan the daughter of

when Ivan was sick she worked as a cook in several restaurants in
Big Springs. After her retirement she was able to spend her time
painting pictures and many of those hang in homes and public places.
She continued to paint into her late nineties until her eyesight
began to deteriorate.
Ida lived in her own home until after the age of one hundred when it
became necessary for to require twenty four hours care. She then
moved to Indian Hills Manor where she lived a reasonably active
life. She loved to tell stories of the “old days”, the good times
and the hardships, and she usually had many of the younger
generation very willing to listen. Although her health and physical
abilities were limited in her later years she was very alert and
always able to “speak her mind”. She was very loved by her children,
grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other relatives and
friends.
