George Kurkowski

George Edward Kurkowski, age 90, of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday evening, December 29, 2010, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.  George was born September 11, 1920, the son of Ed and Letha (Stansbury) Kurkowski. 

He drove a truck for Chub Walker for a number of years before working for TRW for over twenty years.  George was later employed for over thirty years at the Ogallala Country Club golf course. 

George loved being outdoors and was a very good carpenter.  He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, trap shooting and bowling.

Survivors include:

His wife,           Norma Kurkowski of Ogallala

One son,          Lonnie Kurkowski of Ogallala

One daughter,   Kandice and husband Lynn Hazen of Brule

Three grandchildren,     Alan, Matt and Nicole Hazen and six great grandchildren

and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, Charles Kurkowski, Gerald Kurkowski, Ethel Kappas, Laura Ferguson, Helen Bonson, Edward Kurkowski and Letha Kurkowski.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eric Wait of the New Hope Church officiating.  Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation.  Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com.
