Evelyn Kuskie Newman, age 91, a longtime Brule and Big Springs area resident, passed away April 7, 2009 in Berthoud, Colorado.

She was born May 1, 1917 in Perkins County, Nebraska the daughter of Bert C. and Margaret ( Dodge) Kuskie. She graduated from Greeley State Teacher’s College and taught elementary school in Nebraska and Colorado for twenty seven years.

She was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Newman on August 23, 2005. She is survived by her son, Richard William "Dick" Newman and Jane of Loveland, Colorado; her daughter Patricia Ellsworth and Joe of Elk River, Minnesota; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice and husband Harold Kampfe; and one brother, Clifford Kuskie all of Brule.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27^th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jon Dickmander of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Brule Cemetery.
