Evelyn Feltz
Evelyn Anne Feltz, age 94, a longtime Ogallala resident, passed away on
Monday, November 15, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Evelyn was born February 11, 1916, at Iliff, Colorado, the daughter of
William H. and Alice Ruth (McKnight) Franken. The family moved to
Ogallala in 1918.
She graduated from the Ogallala High School in 1933 and attended
Nebraska State Teacher's College in Kearney. Evelyn taught rural school
near Roscoe for two years; after college was employed by the Ogallala
High School for several years as secretary to the Superintendent of
Schools; was employed a the Keith County Judge's Office and was Deputy
County Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the District Court.
She married Firmin Q. Feltz on May 8, 1943, in Riverside, California.
The couple returned to Ogallala in 1946 following his World War II
service. Evelyn assisted Firmin in his law office and was very active in
community activities. He volunteer activities included Crippled
Children's Clinics, Red Cross Blood Drives, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels
for it's inception and the Boy Scouts. She belonged to several bridge
groups, was a member of the Ogallala Country Club and was active
politically in the Democratic Party in Keith County.
Evelyn was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where she was an
active member of the Altar Society for many years and was devoted to the
Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary.
She had resided in Louisville, Kentucky since July of 2008 to be near
her daughter, Kerry, and her family.
Survivors include:
One son, John "Chip" and wife Penny Feltz of Ogallala
One daughter, Kerry and husband John "Josh" Himler of Louisville, KY
Grandchildren, Chrissa and husband Michael Schlake of Ogallala
Bo Feltz of Kearney, NE
Jess Feltz of Lincoln, NE
Jonathan, Joshua and Jillian Himler of Kentucky
Great granddaughters, Ella and Lucy Schlake of Ogallala
And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Firmin Feltz; sisters, Wilma
Frost, Verdie Peters, Florence Kelly; and one brother, Shirley Franken.
Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19th at the
Gubser Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00
a.m. on Saturday, November 20th at St. Luke's Catholic Church with
Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Rosary on
Friday at the Gubser Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at

Church of St. Luke's School or the Donor's Choice in Evelyn's memory.
