Clara Loraine Novak Davis, age 90 of Ogallala, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Clara was born May 18, 1917 in Lucas, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Laura (Pulec) Novak. The family moved to Bunker Hill, Kansas where Clara attended school with her younger sister, Evelyn.

Following her graduation from high school she attended a business college in Hutchinson, Kansas. While attended the school she met Gene Davis and the couple were married on February 1, 1941. They later moved to Denver, Colorado where there son John was born on November 16, 1942. They resided in Denver until Gene’s retirement in 1981 when they moved to Ogallala, where they lived for the past twenty seven years.

Clara was a member of the Ogallala United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and Garden Club.

Survivors include:

One son, John and wife Pat Davis of Ogallala

Three grandchildren, Bob and wife Nancy Davis of Austin, Texas

Doug and wife Marie Davis of Ogallala

Terri and husband Dean Hendon of Paxton

Six great grandchildren, Rhys and Amanda Davis

Jerry Lee, Steven and Brooke Hendon

Ryan Davis

Two great-great grandchildren, Emma and Lily Hendon

She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister and one great grandson, Jason Ryan Hendon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17^th at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Gubser Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to gubserfuneralhome.com. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in her memory.
