Charlotte Powell

             Charlotte M. Powell, age 78 of Ogallala, passed away Sunday morning,

October 31, 2010 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

            Charlotte was born April 13, 1932 at Shelton, Nebraska, the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Marks) Doremus.  She grew up and attended schools in Shelton, graduating from high school in 1950. 

            Charlotte married Merle Powell on October 6, 1956 in Gibbon, Nebraska.  To this union two sons and a daughter were born, Bob, Dick and Collette.  When the family moved to Ogallala Charlotte was employed for many years at TRW.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the DAR.  After her retirement she volunteered her time and service to several different organizations in Ogallala.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; and infant daughter, Colette; her parents, Clarence and Hazel Doremus; brothers, Walter "Bus", Donald, Sonny and Melvin Doremus; sisters, Mildred and Dorothy Doremus.

            She is survived by two sons, Dick and wife Ellen Powell of Brule and Bob and Lyn Powell of Sacramento, CA; thirteen grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley and husband, Alvin Volquardsen of Cario, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3rd at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eric Wait of the New Hope Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
