Cal Armour Longtime Ogallala businessman, Cal Armour, age 78, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Ogallala Community Hospital after a courageous battle with Parkinsonism.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with Reverend James B. Miller officiating. Interment was in the Ogallala Cemetery with Eastern Star rites. Cal was born September 29, 1931 at Ansley, Nebraska, the son of Don and Dagmar (Pedersen) Armour. His family relocated to Ogallala where he graduated from the Ogallala High School.
On June 26, 1954, Cal married his wife of fifty five years, Beverly McCorkle, at the United Methodist Church in Albion, Nebraska. They had three children, Steve, Joe and Julie.
After high school Cal worked in the family ready-mix, sand and gravel business. In 1996 Cal and his son Steve sold the business to Paulsen, Inc. Following retirement, Cal enjoyed working as a Travel Guide for the State of Nebraska Vacation Guide Program.
Cal had been a member of the Ogallala United Methodist Church for over sixty years. He had been a member of the Ogallala Masonic Lodge # 159 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was also Past Patron of the Ogallala Chapter # 142 Order of the Eastern Star and Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of the State of Nebraska. In addition to spending time with his family, Cal enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include:

Sister, Shirley and husband Don Bassett of Ogallala
And several nephews, nieces and cousins
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dagmar Armour
Memorials may be directed to the Nebraska Children’s Home in Omaha, the Ogallala United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice in Cal’s memory.
