Betty Robb Betty Jean Robb, age 77 of Big Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home in Julesburg, Colorado. She was born April 18, 1930 at her grandparent’s home in Chappell, Nebraska the daughter of Kenneth and Aliene (Bruenger) Keefer.
Betty graduated from the Julesburg High School in 1947 and was employed as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank. She married Robert Robb on September 3, 1949 at her parent’s home in Julesburg.
The couple spent two and one half years in the Panama Canal Zone during Bob’s enlistment in the United States Air Force. Following Bob’s discharge the couple returned home and farmed on the Robb homestead. Robin and Kevin were born while the family resided on the farm. Bob and Betty retired and moved into Big Springs in 1987. Betty’s claim to five minutes of fame came from the book she wrote in 1995 dedicated to Robin and Kevin.
One of Betty’s final wishes was that her family would remember always that she loved and cherished them more than anything else in the world. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Aliene Keefer; her husband, Robert; and a grandson, Jason Robb.
Survivors include: Her daughter, Robin and husband Ron Peterson of Red Cloud, NE Her son, Kevin and wife Mary Robb of Silver Creek, NE Grandchildren, Michael and wife Chrissa Schlake Jillian Schlake Brandon, Sam and Katie Robb Great-granddaughter, Ella Schlake
Funeral services for Betty Robb will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Big Springs Methodist Church with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating. Burial will be in the Big Springs Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Gubser Funeral Home in Big Springs. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
