Betty Katherine Meyer, age 71 of Big Springs, passed away Saturday evening, September 20, 2008 at the Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.

Betty was born February 7, 1937 in Lodgepole, Nebraska the daughter of Leo and Ethella (Augustine) Killgore. She attended school in Lodgepole until her sophomore year when she moved to Haxtun, Colorado with her family. She graduated from High School in Haxtun in 1955.

Betty married Donald Meyer on May 19, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Big Springs. Betty had been employed at many different jobs in the community until her retirement in 2003 to become a fulltime mother and grandmother. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, The Ladies Fireman Auxiliary and the Red Hot Club.

Great granddaughters, Emily and Katilyn Ewert of Sedgwick, CO

Sister, June and John Richter of Berlin, WI

And several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ethella Killgore; her husband, Donald Meyer, and a brother, Fredrick Killgore.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Big Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating. Burial will be in the Big Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gubser Funeral Home in Big Springs.
