Bernice I. Bloomberg, age 96 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday evening, February 24, 2010, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Bernice was born December 9, 1913 at Hallam, Nebraska, the daughter of Cyrus and Minnie (Messman) Davison. The family moved to Ogallala where Bernice attended schools.

On October 17, 1930 she married Fritz Bloomberg. Early on Bernice worked in area cafes as a waitress and cook. She was later employed as a licensed dietician at Indian Hills Manor and a cook at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Survivors include:

One daughter, Jerry Eichner of El Paso, TX

Four sons, Carl (Sarah) Bloomberg of Ogallala

Rodger (Carol) Bloomberg of Ogallala

Herold (Eunice) Bloomberg of Grand Island, NE

Tom Bloomberg of Ogallala

Brothers, Herb and Merle Davison

22 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fritz Bloomberg; a son, Darrell Bloomberg; and a daughter, Kathleen Betts.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27^th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Duane Dunwoody officiating. Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established in her memory.
