 Art Rapp

Arthur William Herman Rapp, age 85 of rural Ogallala, passed away Wednesday morning, July 22nd, at the Ogallala Community Hospital. He was born January 27, 1924 at Chalco, Nebraska the son of Herman and Wilhelmina Rapp.

 

The family came to Ogallala in March of 1924. Art attended kindergarten in Ogallala and then attended school in Grant. In 1941 the family moved to the home near Ogallala where Art and Ruth live. He graduated from the Ogallala High School in 1942.

 

He was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Grant in 1940. Art married Ruth Apolius on June 20, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Art served on the Coop board for many years as well as the District # 18 School Board and the Keith County Weed Board. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held several positions on the St. Paul’s Church Board. His hobbies included bowling, fishing and ice fishing. He had been named the bowler of the year. He was especially fond of playing keno.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor David Dobbertien officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Gubser Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. A memorial has been established to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers in his memory.
