Arlene Bergmeier

Arlene Esther Bergmeier, age 83 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday evening, March 26, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Arlene was born June 26, 1925 in Plymouth, Nebraska the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Hansjurgen) Niemeier. She was confirmed on May 21, 1939 at the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice. She married Robert E. Bergmeier on November 17, 1946 in Beatrice. The couple lived on a farm in the Plymouth area for fifteen years raising three children until moving to Beatrice where Arlene cleaned homes and was employed at the Beatrice State Home.


In 1978 they moved to Imperial where she worked in the meat department at Super Foods Grocery. For the past eleven years Arlene had resided in Ogallala. She was a member of RSVP and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Arlene was a very loving mother and wife. She enjoyed visiting her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to church. She enjoyed making angel food cakes and pies for her friends and family, canning vegetables from her own garden and especially loved flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bergmeier; a son, Brian Bergmeier; granddaughter, Heather Bergmeier; sister, Elvera Stokebrand; and her parents, Henry and Lydia Niemeier.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30th at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Ogallala with Pastor Robert Pierce officiating. Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31st at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
